For what will most likely be Mocha's final litter, I wanted to find a stud who exemplifies Beach Mountain Labs' philosophy: the unique combination of wonderful family companion AND elite gun dog. Otter has a strong natural point, easy to train in the field and had work ethic. Titles include:
According to his owner/handler, Otter is a treasured family member who sleeps at the foot of her bed. She adds, "excellent marker, very smart, loves to work. Runs hard on marks, blinds and drills. Has qualified 4 years in a row for the Triple Crown. He is producing easy to train offspring by the amateur owner, with great marking ability and drive."
As far as looks: Otter is a 10 for Beach Mountain Lab's aesthetics. 100 years ago, before the branches of Labrador grew so terribly apart into Field vs. Show or American vs. English, this is what a quintessential Lab looked like: 75lbs, leggy enough to swim and run fast, broad chest and solid head but not overly blocky as a Rottweiler .
Mocha is my most fetch-loving dog to come out of Beach Mountain Labs. She is also highly intelligent and empathetic like her Dam, Mia. Both can read situations very well can change their behavior accordingly. This makes indoor life nice. She actutally learned to tiptoe around my sleeping baby and adjust her alert bark to a soft huff while sitting in his room. From an early age, she figured out I didn't want her sitting on the couch or counter surfing for snacks (no guarantees on that from your puppy, lol).
She comes from titled upland and waterfowl hunting lines, most notably her Sire: GRHRCH UH 4xGMPR 3 Ring Tycho's Supernova of Tgk MH
We expect puppies from this litter to be versatile hunting Labs or simply fabulous family companions that you’ll want to take with you on most of your domestic vacations: snow, ocean, camping, lake, desert. I've been breeding for 16 years, and I can honestly say that my chocolate line originating from my founding queen in 2008 is incredibly resilient. They just don't seem to feel the cold or the heat like other dogs I've known, although I'd never test it.
Mocha raises the notion of athleticism and drive to a whole new level. She will climb trees, and tear through nasty brambles at the simple command of "up" and "get in." All of Beach Mountain's Labs are great trail dogs. You can let them off leash and they will check in often. They make good short distance jogging partners and will try to keep up with you on your mountain bike. The first time I took Mocha to the desert my jaw dropped, she kept up with us on our dirt bikes!
